HJR Global Network Enterprises provides several
Internet Access services. Different areas have different availability
and different service providers. Choose the type of service you are
most interested in and let us get you signed-up today so that you
can start enjoying what the Internet has to offer.
ISP = Internet Service Provider
Dial-up Internet Access -- Uses a computer modem and your regular
phone line to dial into the Internet. Modem must already be installed
in your computer or purchased separately. No contract necessary.
Dial-up can tie up your phone line disallowing voice calls on that
line during usage.
DSL Internet Service -- Uses a special external DSL modem that must be purchased
from the ISP at time of sign-up. Most ISP provide a credit or rebate
on the cost of the modem in exchange for a 1 or 2 year contract. The
modem is shipped to you for self-installation or installation services
can be purchased separately. DSL does not tie up your phone line and
all normal phone services are available. You must maintain the normal
phone line for the term of the contract and the phone line must be
provided by the same provider as the DSL service. DSL availability
is limited by one's proximity to specific telephone company installations.
Typically, one must be within three to five miles of such facilities.
High-speed Broadband or Cable Internet Service -- Uses a special
external cable modem or satellite modem provided by the ISP. Cable modems
are typically provided for free while satellite modems are the most
expensive internet connection equipment sold and must be purchased
from the ISP. Broadband Internet service does not require a telephone
line and no contract is necessary for cable Internet Access. Installation
has to be performed by a ISP representative and thus must be scheduled.
The installation fees are typically credited by ISP so long as some
sort of cable service or satellite service is available at your location.
It is possible to add telephone services to a High-speed Internet
connection that are a lot less than normal phone services and may have
more features than a normal phone line (see VoIP).
Wireless Internet Access -- There are several types of Wireless
Internet Access.
One type uses a wireless adapter to connect to a
wireless router or access point. A lot of notebooks and laptops have
wireless adapters built-in or they can be purchased and added to the
computer. Wireless Access Points are typically provided by businesses
such as hotels, restaurants, and airports. When a computer using a
wireless adapter is within range of a wireless router or access point
that is broadcasting a signal, one is capable of connecting to the
internet if they have the security credentials to do so or in the case
of access points, choose to purchase an time-slot of access (typically
a full day of access is about $10.00 but varies by provider). HJR
Global Network Enterprises cannot help you with this type of wireless
connection, however, HJR SOFTWARE can provide you with a computer,
notebook or wireless adapter and teach you how to use this type of
service. HJR SOFTWARE can also set-up a wireless network in your home
or business.
Another type of wireless internet access involves using a wireless
cell phone modem. This service is provided by a cell phone company
and allows one to connect to the Internet wherever cellular service
is available from the chosen cell phone company. Typically, this type
of wireless internet access is used on notebooks and laptops and requires
the purchase of a cell phone modem and a cell phone service plan.
HJR Global Network Enterprises can assist you with this. See our
cellular phone service, pick a service provider and then change the
type of phone and select a cell phone modem. Available plans will
appear. Some providers charge by the minute just like they do with
a regular cell phone. Other providers give you a complete data package
for a specific number of minutes or for unlimited minutes.
